Doctor who last christmas clara bye12/2/2022 ![]() ![]() ![]() "There was a certain amount of to-ing and fro-ing … I always think I'm quite good at winding up people on this but Jenna completely outplayed me when she said in an interview, 'I'm not telling you if I'm staying or going because it's just more exciting.' And it occurred to us all that we don't start shooting until January so we could actually keep it a secret. The arrival of the 12th Doctor has just kind of dropped this whole bombshell and allowed the dynamic to totally change, so I think just when Clara was feeling more comfortable in the relationship, it has suddenly thrown something new up."Īs for how long Clara will be around, Radio Times has reported that Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has confirmed that she is "in all of the next series." He also discussed their decision to keep Coleman's future on the show a secret, as the actress did keep him guessing for a bit. I think they've finally just reached a point where they really understand each other. ![]() I get a whole other series of stories with the Doctor and I couldn't walk away with the story being unresolved. As reported by BBC News, Coleman has addressed her decision to stay and what the change of Doctors from Matt Smith's to Peter Capaldi's has meant for Clara. Watch the video below to see Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi discussing the Christmas episode.Īs the Inquisitr previously reported, whether or not Clara would be the Doctor's companion in Doctor Who Season 9 has been a bit of a mystery and one that would be solved with the Christmas special. Instead, it was "Santa" to save the day again. However, before that happened, he did find her (in another dream) as an old woman, and if Coleman was leaving, it's easy to see how that could have been her exit, with the Doctor having to say goodbye to her then. She leapt at the chance, and they were off together again. ![]() This year's Doctor Who Christmas special saw the Doctor and Clara encounter dream crabs - and Santa in those dreams (and perhaps not just in those dreams, depending how you see that tangerine at the end) - before being reunited when he saved her and extended the invitation for her to join him once more in the TARDIS to see all of time and space. Nick Frost was awesome as Santa and I'd be happy seeing him pop in again.Doctor Who fans who have liked seeing Jenna Coleman's Clara serving as the Doctor's companion can breathe a bit easier now, as the 2014 Christmas special, "Last Christmas," revealed that she will be back for the ninth season in a message in the end credits reading, "Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will return in The Magician's Apprentice." There are some great fun moments in this special episode and there are some great lines plus a few touching ones (my favorite line I can't quote without it being a spoiler for season eight) and whilst there are some freaky moments this is another fab Doctor Who episode that I will be owning without a doubt. This is one rather confusing episode at times, the aliens put you in a dream state but the problem is working out if you are still in a dream state or have you gotten out of it and so forth, it can get very confusing but at the same time it really adds to it. I was also very eager to see how Clara was coping after the events of the season eight finale. I was most eager to see how Santa and the Doctor would work together, considering how practical this Doctor and how sceptical he seems. It is a real family affair here, sitting down to watch it, my husband and I, our three kids, my mother and our friend and her kids. The Doctor Who Christmas specials have become a firm fixture on our 'must watch around Christmas' list and so as soon as I was able to I set this to record on MySky and on Boxing Day this was recorded. We see a real vulnerability to Clara here as she deals with her loss of Danny (a very sweet moment in here about that) and with Coleman signed up for Season Nine, I'm keen to see where she and the Doctor go from here and how they grow. After her life as a Cyberman had come to an end in the Season 10 finale, she decided to leave the Doctor and go on a journey of space with Heather. And yes, technically is is a 'comeback' for Bill Potts. I watched the special feature on the DVD which gives a look behind the scenes and I love seeing moments where all are meant to be serious but they crack up laughing. Clara and Bill have both been important to Twelve's journey, so it makes sense for both of them to come back to say the last goodbye. There's some good special effects going on here, from the aliens to Santa and his sleigh to the self moving toys. Here they learn the truth behind where they left off at the end of the season and we meet a new alien, dream crabs, which take both the characters and the audience on one heck of a ride as we try to figure out which is the dream and which is the reality. It's Christmas Eve and Clara awakens to discover Santa is on her roof, before she knows it she's back on the TARDIS and off to the cold and the chill of the North Pole. This episode of the doctor who seems to be the strange love child of Stephen Moffitt, Ridley Scott and Christopher Nolan but it still a rather fun and very confusing at times episode. This Review: 10/10 Storyline: Actors / Animation: Soundtrack: Personal Choice: ![]()
